Lighting combines electricity, heat, glass, metal, mounting hardware, and structural support. Safe performance depends on choosing a suitable product, confirming the site conditions, following instructions, and using qualified installation professionals.
Our safety framework
Product suitability
Customers should verify product dimensions, voltage, bulb type, maximum wattage, location rating, dimmer compatibility, and installation requirements before purchase.
Electrical safety
Hardwired products should be installed and serviced by a qualified licensed electrician in accordance with instructions, electrical codes, permits, and local requirements.
Site responsibility
A qualified professional must confirm junction-box support, ceiling structure, anchors, clearances, environmental exposure, circuit condition, and the suitability of the installation location.
Before installation
- Confirm the product and all components match the order.
- Inspect glass, shades, wiring, sockets, drivers, hardware, and canopy.
- Verify voltage and frequency for the installation country.
- Confirm bulb base, bulb shape, wattage, and heat limitations.
- Check dry, damp, wet, bathroom, or outdoor-location rating.
- Verify dimmer, transformer, and LED-driver compatibility.
- Confirm mounting surface and junction box can support the load.
- Retain instructions, product labels, packaging, and order records.
Do not install a product that is damaged, incomplete, incorrectly rated, or inconsistent with the ordered specification. Contact Product Support before installation.
Safe operation and maintenance
| Area | Required precaution |
|---|---|
| Power | Disconnect power at the breaker before installation, cleaning, bulb replacement, adjustment, or service. |
| Heat | Allow bulbs and components to cool. Never exceed the stated maximum wattage or obstruct required ventilation. |
| Cleaning | Do not spray cleaner onto electrical components. Follow the material-specific Lighting Care Guide. |
| Children and pets | Keep cords, small hardware, fragile components, hot bulbs, and unstable portable fixtures out of reach. |
| Moisture | Use a fixture only in locations consistent with its stated dry, damp, wet, or outdoor rating. |
| Periodic checks | Watch for looseness, cable damage, discoloration, instability, unusual heat, noise, odor, or flicker. |
Stop using the fixture immediately if you observe:
- Smoke, flame, sparks, arcing, burning odor, melted material, or unusual heat;
- Exposed conductors, damaged insulation, loose socket, repeated tripping, or electrical shock;
- Cracked load-bearing parts, unstable mounting, falling components, or major glass damage;
- Water entry into a product not designed and rated for the location.
Where safe, isolate power at the breaker and keep people away from the area. Contact emergency services when there is immediate danger, fire, injury, or risk of electrocution. Arrange inspection by a qualified licensed professional before the product is used again.
Shipping protection
Eligible Noctlight orders may qualify for replacement, repair support, replacement parts, or refund if a parcel is verified as lost in transit or arrives damaged. The available remedy depends on the order record, carrier evidence, product condition, location, and applicable law.
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| Visible carton damage | Photograph the unopened carton, shipping label, every side of the packaging, internal protection, complete product, and damaged area. |
| Missing carton | Compare tracking numbers and package quantities. Multi-item orders may arrive separately. |
| Marked delivered but missing | Check reception, household members, neighbors, safe locations, delivery photo, and the last-mile carrier. |
| Missing or broken component | Retain all packaging and photograph everything received, including hardware compartments and labels. |
Protection exclusions and limits
Shipping protection generally does not cover an incorrect or incomplete customer address, refused or unclaimed delivery, unauthorized parcel forwarding, loss after confirmed delivery to a secure authorized location, disposal of required evidence, ordinary finish variation, installation damage, improper voltage, misuse, modification, or events outside the written benefit. These limits do not remove rights that cannot be waived under applicable consumer law.
Customers should maintain any personal or commercial insurance appropriate for high-value property, installation labor, construction delay, business interruption, third-party injury, or consequential loss. Noctlight does not reimburse electrician fees, scaffolding, removal, reinstallation, property damage, or consequential expenses except where expressly agreed or required by law.
How a safety or protection case is handled
Stop use, isolate power where appropriate, and preserve the scene and product.
Record the order, labels, packaging, product condition, installation, and incident details.
We evaluate records and may request carrier, electrician, or additional evidence.
We explain the eligible remedy, return instructions, or required safety action.
Report a safety or shipping-protection concern
Government safety reporting
U.S. consumers may search product recalls and safety warnings through the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and may report an unsafe consumer product through SaferProducts.gov. Contacting Noctlight does not prevent you from contacting a regulator or emergency service.
